Shatili – Anatori – Mitsu

Want to visit the highlands and the authentic world of Georgia? Then this excursion is for you.
We will visit the fortress-city of Shatili, the crypt of Anatoly and the Mitsu complex. A fascinating journey into the wild lands, where there are practically no tourists and access is open only a few months a year.
The road lies through the beautiful Zhinvali reservoir, from where we deviate from the usual route and go into the world of Khevsureti. Part of the road is paved, but at the transfer to an altitude of 3600 m above sea level in the flooded velvet meadows only an SUV can drive. On the way we meet many waterfalls, wild rivers and finally – we reach the 12th century city of Shatili, which was built as a defensive fortress and protected our land from the Dagestani invasions.
We will see how people lived in the Middle Ages, what kind of lifestyle was in the mountains, nature, culture, authenticity and of course you can taste the local, but simple cuisine. Afterwards, the village of Anatoli is located nearby, which has practically disappeared from the face of the earth, but has left one unique history of this place.
Also, the recently restored Mitsu complex will meet us on our way. You will feel a completely different culture, nature and life of our lands.
