Rabati Fortress – or Akhaltsikhe Fortress – has been the region’s main city and economic center since the 11th century. 280 years under the Ottoman Empire left its mark on the city’s architecture, lifestyle, and religious loyalty. The complex was completely restored in 2006-2008 and provides an excellent idea of ​​the large-scale buildings of its contemporaries.
